The Hunterson Brooch, an early Christian brooch with panels of gold filigree in Celtic and Anglo-Saxon styles, from Ireland or the West of Scotland, c. 700 AD. A 10th century runic inscription on the reverse indicates that it was once owned by a Viking named Melbrigda. [840×928]
