The Völklingen Iron Works is a UNESCO Heritage Site because it is almost a perfectly preserved example of an early 20th century iron works. Iron works like these fed Germanys war production during the world wars. I visited on a Saturday 2 hours after open I was the only car in the lot (4032×3024)
