[2850×1890] USS Los Alamos AFDB-7 floating dry dock forward deployed to Holy Loch, Scotland. She supported Polaris and Poseidon Fleet Ballistic Missile submarines. SLBMs at the time did not have the range to launch pier-side, necessitating forward deployment to fulfill the deterrence mission.
