The Marañón poison-frog (Excidobates mysteriosus) is easily recognised with its unique coloration. It is known from three tiny populations in the dry forests of north-east Peru and is highly endangered by deforestation.

The Philippine pitviper (Trimeresurus flavomaculatus) is a highly variable species. The ones found on Negros Island (such as this specimen) can be particularly colourful. This one here is a living piece of art with hints of yellow and turquoise… It isn’t believed to be threatened at this time.
